NATO's Undersea Research Center (NURC) just completed their 2009 Battlespace Profiling (BP09) research cruise. Rutgers played an integral role in this effort by deploying two gliders equipped with suites of optical sensor on several missions over the course of the cruise. The gliders were piloted by NURC's new glider control team, who has been given extensive training experiences through their collaboration with Rutgers COOL. See the paper by Chuck Trees, the BP09 scientist-in-charge and NURC project leader entitled,
"Application of Gliders for Near-Real Time METOC Data Collection Capability for Battlespace Characterization"
