Gulf stream sea surface Temperature September 20 2013 : Andrew Rivera
The water temperature off the Gulf coast on September 23 was very varied. If we start on the lower section around 34* long and -75* lat , then we see water temperatures at a high of 82*f. And as you travel along the longitude the data becomes scattered and spotty. We see a constant high temperature in the lower level of the map. The clouds that obscured the data also could have skewed the results because we see deep blue spots indicating low temperature levels. As we travel up the coast we see the temperature start to cool down into the 70's and 60's and all the way down to the 50s up by maine. Off the coast however the surface temperature begins to rise and we get these spots and stretches of very warm water. The composite graph is much more filled in, so you get these big mesh of colors.
