East Coast Water Temerature
Above is a temperature reading taken by the glider, BLUE, during its expedition off of the East Coast. The glider was deployed on September 6, 2013 and the readings shown represent it's voyage from then through September 13, 2013. According to the diagram, the temperature seems to be warmer toward the surface, between o and 25 meters, and reaching about 22°C at the highest. We can also see that with each passing day the glider seemed to go deeper and deeper with the water getting colder as depth increases, reaching 10°C and below. By observing the readings, we can see that the glider records large temperature gradients between September 12th and 13th as there is a five degree drop in temperature almost instantaneously between 20 and 30 meters.
