Sea Surface Temperature of the Gulf Stream
Shannon Chang:Sea surface temperature of the Gulf Stream on September 25 0100 GMT (2100 EST) ranged from the low 50's to the mid 80's. Water hugging the coast was found to be mid 60's, while water a bit further off the coast was coldest at a mere 50 degrees. The Gulf Stream itself reached high 70's, although cloud cover blocked more measurements east of the areas of cold water. Overall, the Gulf Stream region displays a high variability of sea surface temperatures.
