The gliders are making good progress. We will start to adjust their flight patterns after consultation with the various field teams at the beginning of the week. The winds have been reasonabley high (according to the M1 MBARI mooring).
Not surprising if we assume that these winds are consistent over the wider region, the optical transects at Half Moon Bay reveal that the nepheloid layer is increasing in thickness.
The surface turbud layer, is still associated with the pycnocline.
The data from RU16 shows the near surface stratification.
Given the shallow depths, the proposed sampling boxes by the RU16 glider is below. Chip et al. suggest this, and unless we hear from others we will proceed with this course of action.
